Raised on a small cattle farm in the little town of New Boston, Texas, Dr. Monty describes himself as "an over educated country boy." He grew up in a tiny Baptist church, attended East Texas Baptist University (college then) for his Bachelors degree in Religion, then on to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for his MDiv and DMin.
He has served in several staff positions in his career including Children's, Youth, Recreation, Music, Education, Administration, Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor. He even spent some time as a church cutodian during his college years.
He and his first wife, (Candace Owens Pierce) were married for 30 years before she passed away with Cancer. Together they have one son, John Calvin (named after his two grandpa's, Johnny Owens and Calvin Pierce).
Monty then met (on a Christian dating app) a Methodist Yankee and married Lynn (Staton) who had also lost her first husband to cancer. Lynn came with three beautiful daughters; Kristen, Kaitlin, and Karoline. They and their families are a rich blessing to an already blesed life.

While science and spirituality may seem like opposing concepts, they can actually complement each other. Many scientists and spiritual leaders believe that science can help us understand the physical world, while spirituality can help us understand the deeper meaning and purpose of life.
